FEBRUARY COMMUNITY DIALOGUE SESSIONS
FEBRERO - DIÁLOGO PUBLICO
Discussion theme for February: "Equity"
Tema de discusión para febrero: "La equidad"
February 22, 24, and 27
Questions:
Many who responded to CHART’s first survey talked about issues related to equity—access to affordable housing, good education, health care, and other vital resources that are necessary for a full and healthy life; distribution of wealth; wage discrepancy; gentrification; as well as dominant and marginalized voices
and stories. With these in mind:
-
Talk about an experience you’ve had in Santa Fe (city and/or county) that makes you think about equity and inequity. What made the situation equitable or inequitable?
-
If you were an elected official, how would you make a real difference in terms of equity? Creative thinking and solutions are encouraged.
For the purposes of the February dialogues, we are using the following descriptions of equity and equality. Equity involves trying to understand and
give people what they need to enjoy full, healthy lives. Equality, in contrast,
aims to ensure that everyone gets the same things. Like equity, equality
aims to promote fairness and justice, but it assumes that everyone
starts from the same place and needs the same things.
