The pueblo way is: you don't live for yourself, you live for others.
– Alfonso Ortiz, activist anthropologist, Santa Fe Living Treasure
Santa Fe Living Treasures honored elders who have generously given to the Santa Fe community.
While the organization was active, they honored the lives and contributions of Santa Feans by saving their stories for the rest of us. You can still dip into their many stories on their website at https://sflivingtreasures.org/index.php/treasures.html or at the Fray Angelico Chavez Library where their oral histories and photographs are housed.
Learn about Dona Jesusita Aragon, Peggy Pond Church, Gilberto Guzman, Njoroge Tho–Biaz, and over 200 more Santa Fe Living Treasures.
Who would you nominate to be a Santa Fe Living Treasure in 2022? Share their story and you just might see it published here in the Culture Blog.
