In 2021, the Santa Fe Indian School hired its first Pueblo woman as superintendent, Ms. Christie Abeyta (Santo Domingo and Santa Clara). In this video, courtesy of Indigenous Ways, she speaks about her own background and family's history with the school, the impact of forced Indian policy, the history of the school in the early boarding school era, and the importance of education and culture to her students today for their learning, culture, survivance, and thriving.
